Every harness uses the same measurements. The only difference is where you measure:

Quick Tip

Measuring at the collar position when your harness sits lower on the neck can lead to the wrong size. Instead, measure where your harness is designed to sit for the most accurate fit.

Add 0.5–1" (1–2.5 cm) to your dog's neck measurement to ensure a comfortable fit.

The good news? Measuring your pup takes less than a minute, and the size chart for your chosen harness is right on its product page.

You'll only need two measurements.

Neck

Wrap a soft measuring tape around your dog's neck where your chosen harness is designed to sit. Measure while your pup is standing naturally, keeping the tape snug, but not tight. You should still be able to slide two fingers comfortably underneath.

Chest

Next, measure around the widest part of your dog's chest, just behind the front legs. This measurement helps keep the harness secure while giving your pup plenty of room to move, sniff, stretch, and explore.

Fluffy pup? Let the measuring tape rest naturally over the fur instead of compressing the coat. This helps ensure your harness isn't sized too tight.
